The famous Golden Triangle circuit comprising of the 3 tourist strongholds Delhi, Agra and Jaipur is the best getaway to an exhibition of India’s culture, heritage and architectural brilliance. However, the Golden Triangle Tour with Varanasi goes even further than just introducing you to the Golden Triangle.
The itinerary also takes you to Varanasi – the brazen, chaotic tourist beehive that flings colors at its observers. Major attractions that are covered in course of this week long tour include architectural masterpieces such as the India Gate, Parliament House, Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Amber Fort and Red Fort.
Arrival in Delhi
On arrival in Delhi, you will be greeted by our representative who will escort you to your hotel. Overnight stay at hotel.
Delhi - Jaipur
Start your day with a city tour of New Delhi, visiting popular destinations like Laxmi Narayan Temple, India Gate, Parliament House etc. In the afternoon, round 2 of city sightseeing tour begins in Old Delhi covering Jama Masjid (Asia’s largest mosque), Red Fort and Gandhi Memorial. Later in the afternoon, start for Jaipur. Upon reaching Jaipur in the evening, check into your hotel where overnight stay has been arranged.
Day 3 begins with an excursion to Amber Fort, accompanied by a joyous Elephant ride. As the regal elephant takes you up to the top façade of the fort, you relive the grandeur and comfort that was once associated with the Maharajas of India. Once back from the Fort, take a city tour starting with the humongous City Palace, further divided into a series of gardens, courtyards and buildings and arguably one of the finest specimens of Rajasthani & Mughal fusion architecture. This is followed by excursions to the Royal Observatory - a medieval scientific observatory/repository and the Bazaar where you can shop to your heart’s content for artifacts, handicrafts and other souvenirs. Later in the evening, return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Jaipur - Agra
Day 4 takes you to the erstwhile Mughal capital, Agra, the city of the Taj. En route, stop at the old, deserted town of Fatehpur Sikri, once an important administrative and strategic center of the Mughals. After you are regaled by the tales from centuries back, you can check into your hotel in Agra where overnight stay has been arranged.
Agra - Varanasi
Day 5 takes you to the insides of Agra as you start with the epitome of love, Taj Mahal, an architectural sonnet created in white marble, and rightly the most extravagant, pompous exhibition of love. Afterwards, visit the adjoining Red Fort in the same complex. Learn about the historical significance of the Red Fort, much of which eventually led to the construction of Taj Mahal. Later, visit the Itmad-ud-Daula Tomb whose design elephants overshadow the Taj. Finally, late in the evening, board the overnight train to Varanasi.
As you arrive in the holy city of Varanasi, you are greeted by relaxing vedic chants emanating from the ghats of the Ganga, and our representative, of course! A quick transfer protocol takes you to your hotel in Varanasi, Benares to some. Once you are settled and rested, head out in the afternoon on an excursion to the Buddhist town of Sarnath, a highly revered landmark where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon, having gained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya. Partake in some local sightseeing on your own as well and return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Varanasi - Delhi and Departure
The last day of the tour is reserved for Benares’ chief attraction – the morning Arti and holy dip at the Ganga Ghats. A string of bathing ghats lines the western banks of the holy Ganges. You can also enjoy a relaxed boat ride at dawn. During your sightseeing tour of Varanasi, you may also visit the Tulsi Manas temple, Bharat Mata temple, Alamgir temple etc. Once you’re done exploring the city’s colorful landscape, you will be escorted to the airport to catch the flight to Delhi. After arrival in Delhi, you will be transferred to the international airport to continue with your onward journey.
